Green deal 149: Sustainable civil engineering
From 2009 to 2012, organizations in the civil engineering sector developed an approach to improve the promotion of sustainable procurement in the civil engineering sector and to improve utilization opportunities for sustainability and innovation. The Sustainable Civil Engineering approach is a practical process and project management approach. In this approach, the relevant sustainability themes are included in the ambitions and objectives from the start of the project and an investigation is conducted into how these can be realized in the project.
The Sustainable Civil Engineering Approach is a working method for all phases in a development, design and realization process and offers space for sustainable area development and sustainable innovation. The Sustainable Civil Engineering Approach has now been developed to such an extent that the coalition and members of the coalition can implement it, further distribute it in the civil engineering sector and further develop it. The approach fits in well with other sectoral developments, such as innovation-oriented design, awarding value, innovative tendering, risk management and functional specification.
